2013 Pinkston Scholarship Banquet
The Carrollton/Douglasville Alumni Chapter was honored to recognize our brother, Fred Pinkston, for his 60 years as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and for a lifetime of achievement. He was surrounded by family, friends, and fraternity brothers, who celebrated him and his life.
As a 60-year member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. Mr. Pinkston is a current member of the Carrollton/Douglasville Alumni Chapter, where he has serves as Chairman of the Senior Kappa Affairs Committee, a member of the Board of Directors, as a source of wisdom and reason. He came to our chapter after serving for 48 years in the Fort Lauderdale (FL) Alumni Chapter and serving in various roles there, including Polemarch (President); Committee Chairman; Board of Director; Foundation Member; and was honored as the Southern Province (FL & AL) Man of the Year in 1990.
He retired in 2001, after 45 years in Education, a Teacher, Guidance Counselor, Coach, and Assistant Principal at the High School and College levels. His experience included Nova Southeastern University and Florida Memorial University. He coached Track and Cross Country for 20 years. Career highlights include coaching two athletes who went on to participate in the Olympics; being the first African-American Varsity Head Coach in Broward County, FL; being a certified track and field official for USA Track and Field; and organizing and serving as president of the Broward County Track and Field Association.
